XMRExchange Monero (XMR) to USDT (Ethereum)

Moving from Monero into a dollar stablecoin is the usual way to stop watching the chart for a while. It is also the moment your balance becomes something a third party can freeze — worth knowing before you press the button, not after.

What a stablecoin is and is not

USDT is an IOU issued by a company. Its value rests on that company holding reserves and honouring redemptions, and its ledger entry lives in a smart contract the issuer controls. That is a different kind of asset from Monero or Bitcoin, where no one can reach into your wallet.

Tether can and does freeze addresses, usually at the request of law enforcement — the blacklisting function is part of the contract and its use is publicly visible on Ethereum. Nobody is suggesting that is aimed at you; it is simply a property of the asset, and any page that sells you USDT as "cash" is leaving it out.

If holding a stable value matters more than being un-freezable, this is the right trade. If it is the other way round, it is worth thinking twice.

Which USDT this page pays out

This direction pays USDT on Ethereum — the ERC-20 contract. Tether also exists on Tron, on Solana and on several other chains, and those are not interchangeable: the same ticker, different networks, different addresses.

So the receiving address has to be an Ethereum address you control, and the wallet behind it has to be able to see ERC-20 tokens. Sending Ethereum-side USDT to an address that only exists on Tron does not deliver it, and there is no recall.

Keep a little ETH in that wallet, too. Moving ERC-20 tokens later costs gas paid in ETH, and a wallet holding only USDT cannot spend it.

How the exchange runs

Out of Monero this is a pass-through: a partner exchange takes your XMR at the deposit address on the order page and pays USDT to your address. Nothing sits with us in between, and our revenue is the partner fee already inside the quoted rate.

The quote is floating, as Monero quotes are, and the payout is stated as a guaranteed minimum. Between your deposit, Monero's confirmations and the trade filling, the market has room to move — a move in your favour stays with you.

Visibility, both sides

The Monero side leaves nothing readable behind: no amount, no sender, no way to pick your transaction out of the ring from the outside.

The USDT side is an ordinary Ethereum transfer, and Ethereum is fully public. The balance you receive, every later move it makes and every contract it touches are visible to anyone, and they can be grouped with other addresses by the usual clustering tools. Receiving to a fresh address that is not already tied to your name at an exchange is the part that is actually under your control.

How long it takes

Monero confirmations come first — typically around twenty minutes before a partner will act on the deposit. The Ethereum payout itself is fast once the trade fills.

Expect roughly half an hour end to end in normal conditions, longer for a large order or a congested network.

Before you send

Check the receiving address, and check that it is on Ethereum. An ERC-20 payout cannot be recovered from an address on another chain.

Give a Monero refund address. If the trade cannot be completed, that is where the XMR returns automatically; without one, a refund has to be arranged through support.
