ETHExchange Ethereum (ETH) to Monero (XMR)

Ethereum keeps a permanent, richly annotated record of everything an address has ever done. This route moves value out of that record and into Monero, at a rate quoted before you send anything.

An asset is always chosen together with its network — send on the network shown on your order page, and on no other.

Ethereum remembers more than Bitcoin does

An Ethereum address is not just a balance. Block explorers show every token it has touched, every contract it has approved, every NFT and airdrop it has been sent, and clustering tools use that history to group addresses into one owner. It is a far denser fingerprint than a bitcoin address carries.

Your deposit transaction joins that record and stays there. What does not join it is the payout: Monero hides recipient and amount by design, so the XMR that arrives is not readable from the outside and not tied to the ETH transaction that started the order.

The honest limit is the same as on any route through a service: while the order runs we hold both sides of it, and so does the partner exchange doing the Monero leg. We never ask who you are — but we would not describe that as anonymity from everyone, only from the public chain.

Gas is part of the price, so size the order

Sending ETH costs gas, and gas is charged in ETH on top of the amount you send. On a small order that fee can be a noticeable share of what you are exchanging, and it is paid to Ethereum validators, not to us — no exchange rate can give it back.

Watch the network before you send. The same transfer can cost a few cents in a quiet hour and several dollars in a busy one, and there is rarely anything urgent about waiting for the quiet hour.

How the swap is executed

Monero sits outside the NEAR Intents liquidity that serves our ordinary pairs, so this direction runs in two legs: your ETH is swapped into an intermediate asset that lands on our account, and a partner exchange then sells that asset for Monero and pays your address directly.

Both legs are priced live, which is why the payout is quoted as a guaranteed minimum. It is the number we stand behind rather than an optimistic one — if the market moves in your favour while the deposit confirms, the difference is yours.

How long it takes

Ethereum confirms in seconds to a couple of minutes, so this route usually moves faster than the Bitcoin one. Most of the wait is the partner leg filling and Monero producing its own confirmations.

In practice: minutes, not hours. Large orders can run longer because the second leg is a genuine trade at a partner exchange, and a genuine trade takes as long as the market needs.

Networks and addresses

Send native ETH on the Ethereum mainnet, exactly as the order page states. ETH bridged to an L2 or to another chain is a different asset: it has the same address format, which is precisely what makes this mistake easy and expensive.

The payout goes to a Monero address — a standard one starting with 4 or a subaddress starting with 8. Avoid integrated addresses with an embedded payment ID; a plain address or subaddress is what to paste here.

Fill in a refund address on the Ethereum side. If the route cannot complete, that is where the funds return, and having it saves a manual claim through support later.
