LowEX is open to the public. You can exchange assets across more than 30 blockchain networks from a browser, without registering an account — and this post covers what that actually means in use, including the parts a press release has no room for.
Nothing to sign up for
There is no account, no profile and no document upload. What the service needs from you is the address your funds should arrive at, and nothing else. An email address is optional: it only feeds notifications, and orders are tracked by their link.
Save that link. It is issued when the order is created and it is the way back to your order — the page shows the deposit address, the current status, the countdown and, once the payout goes out, the transaction hash with a link to the explorer.
The rate you see is the rate that applies
Our margin is already inside the quoted rate. Nothing is added on top afterwards, and the payout network fee is accounted for in the same quote. The order page names the minimum you will receive, and that figure is what we commit to — the rates page shows the current numbers per direction.
The rate is locked at the moment the order is created, not at the moment you press "calculate". Minimum and maximum order sizes appear under the amount field before you create anything.
Assets are always shown with their network
The most expensive habit in cross-chain exchange is sending a deposit over the wrong chain, and it usually starts with a coin selected in one place and a network selected in another. On our exchange form the two are one choice: every asset in the list carries the chain it lives on, so a mismatch is not something you can produce by accident. The Tor version goes further and uses a single dropdown per side, because two linked selects cannot be kept in sync without JavaScript — and there is none there by design.
Some networks (Stellar, for example) also need a memo or destination tag. Where that applies, the order page says so.
What happens when the amount does not match
This is the part most services stay quiet about, so here it is plainly.
You sent less than the order amount. Payments to the same deposit address add up. The order page shows exactly how much is still missing and how long you have to send it; once the total is there, the swap starts on its own. If the window closes and the top-up never arrives, the deposit goes back to your refund address.
You sent more. Depending on the quote type, either the whole deposit is exchanged and the payout grows proportionally, or the quoted amount is exchanged and the excess is returned. The order page states which of the two applies to your order rather than leaving you to guess.
You paid after the order expired. A late deposit is usually picked up automatically and the order resumes, even after it was cancelled or expired.
A refund address is optional but worth filling in: without one, a return has to be handled by support manually, and that takes a message and a wait instead of nothing at all. The full set of rules is on the terms page, and the common questions are answered under how it works.
Monero in both directions
XMR is exchanged like any other asset here — you create an order, send the deposit, receive the payout, and the guaranteed minimum is shown before you commit. Monero routes can take longer than others, which the order page reflects in its status rather than in silence.
If you are choosing a route for the first time, two of our reference posts cover the ground: how to buy Monero anonymously and what KYC actually is and when it applies.
The confidential mode, and its limits
On directions where it is available, you can switch the exchange to confidential mode. In that mode the link between your deposit and your payout is not written to the public blockchain.
What it does not do is make amounts and timing disappear. An observer who watches both chains can still correlate a deposit and a payout by size and by the moment they happened, and we say so on the order form itself rather than in a footnote. Confidential mode is unavailable when you are exchanging from XMR, because Monero is already confidential by design.
Also available
The exchange runs in clearnet and through a Tor mirror — same service, no JavaScript in the onion version. The interface is translated into ten languages. Partners can earn a share of the service profit on the orders they bring through the referral programme.
Questions, or an order that needs a human: contact support with the order ID from your link.
